A fifth of AYRA’s graduating seniors has signed a contract to be a coxswain next year at the University of Central Florida.

Asheville Youth Rowing Association performed well in the first USRowing Virtual Southeast Regionals.  We placed first in three events: Men’s Double, Men’s Weight Adjusted Four and Women’s U17 Four.   Our B boat placed second in the Men’s Weight Adjusted Four.  We placed third in the Women’s Single and Men’s Freshman Double.  We also had one fourth place finish and 2 fifth place finishes.

Four of our seniors sign to row next year as recruited athletes at the following colleges:

Lori Belanger signs to row at Clemson.

Isaac Evans signs to row at Syracuse.

Emma Halfacre signs to row at Duquesne.

Emma Steiner signs to row at Kansas.

 

AYRA alums have rowed at or are rowing at the following colleges: Notre Dame, the US Naval Academy, Brown, UNC-Chapel Hill, Drexel, Clemson, Stetson, U. Tennessee, Clark, Worchester Polytech, Puget Sound, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville and San Diego, among others.
