Asheville Youth Rowing Association’s Men’s (AYRA) U17 4 won Gold at USRowing Youth Nationals on Saturday morning, June 12. This boat, composed of youth who are all under the age of 17, won the A Final with a time of 6:58 minutes, a full 8 seconds faster than any other boat in the Final. The crew is composed of Charlotte Fisher, coxswain, Dylan Paull, stroke, Sam Pruitt, 3 seat, James Lilly, 2 seat and Luca Antonescu, bow. The Men’s U17 4 event began on Thursday with 23 entries from rowing programs all over the United States. The AYRA Men’s U17 4 had the fastest time out of all 23 boats in the time trial. On Friday, the AYRA boat had the fastest time in both Semifinals qualifying them for the A Final on Saturday where, again they had the fastest time.
Summer 2021 learn to row classes
We have three options for learn to row classes this summer:
June 19, 21, 22 and 23
July 17, 19, 20 and 21
August 14, 16, 17 and 18
Each class begins on a Saturday at 9 am thru 11 am and we ask that parents stay for a parents’ meeting. The next class will always be the following Monday at 4 pm to 6 pm. Tuesday and Wednesday classes have the same times.
All classes are at the Jack Gartner Boathouse inside the main entrance to Lake Julian Park off Long Shoals Road. Please register your child and pay for the classes via our learn to row page.
Summer Learn to Row Classes
Our first class begins on May 22. Please register at the Learn to Row page.
We will hold another class beginning June 19 from 9-11, Monday, June 21 from 4-6, June 22 from 4-6 and June 23 from 4-6.
There will also be classes in July and August but the dates have not yet been determined.
