On Saturday and Sunday, May 10 & 11, Asheville Youth Rowing Association (AYRA) attended the 2025 USRowing Southeast Regional Championships in Gainesville, Ga. AYRA entered nine events and boats in six of those events reached the grand Finals. The Men’s 1 Varsity 4 won Silver, the Women’s U16 8 won Bronze, the Men’s U17 4 won Bronze and the Women’s 1 Varsity 4 placed fourth. All four boats thus qualified for USRowing Youth National Championships which will take place June 12 through the 15th in Sarasota, Florida.
555 entries from 56 youth rowing programs participated in Southeast Regionals. AYRA’s men placed 13th overall, AYRA’s women placed 12th overall and the total team points placed AYRA in 11th place out of 56 youth rowing programs attending.
AYRA will have seven seniors graduate this spring. Six of those seniors will be rowing next year at the following colleges: Duke University, the University of Pennsylvania, American Catholic University, Old Dominion and Mercyhurst College.
AYRA will hold four rowing camps and numerous learn to row class this summer. Go to our Rowing Camp and Learn to Row pages for more information and to register.
