Asheville Youth Rowing Association’s “Headed to the Hooch” Fundraiser

Asheville Youth Rowing Association is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public corporation dedicated to promoting the sport of rowing among youth between the ages of 11 and 19 years as a means of instilling discipline, teaching team work, attaining physical fitness, and teaching the sport of rowing in order to help young people gain admission to college and/or other educational efforts, obtain scholarships for educational efforts and/or to succeed in a life endeavor. The Association functions without preference to race, creed, religion, or color in Western North Carolina.

The young men and women presenting this letter are current AYRA members who are soliciting sponsors for an indoor erging marathon (“ergathon”) to be held at our boathouse on Saturday, October 4, 2025. The funds raised at this event will be used for our organization’s equipment needs as well as the entry fees for our last race of the fall season, the “HOOCH” in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This is the second largest rowing regatta in the world.

Team members will row 1,000 meters on an ergometer (“erg”, or indoor rowing machine) for each $10 donation they receive. Our crews intend to erg at least 1,001,400 meters or 700 miles during the ergathon. Please feel free to sponsor as many 1,000 meter piece as possible! Checks may be mailed to the address below, or donations may be made using the link below.
